Some quick, heavy and interesting reading cropped up a week
or two ago that slid by me that I want to share with you guys. Former game
journalist and current EA producer Jim Preston wrote and article/essay on games
as art and why this debate is pretty much meaningless. The article, which more
or less ends up being an art is personal and means something different to
different people debate, is highly worth the read.
Go check it out at Gamasutra.

Not content with ruining football
games by eliminating the competition, Electronic Arts is looking to
lay waste to the rest of the video game sporting world. EA has begun
its $2 billion “hostile takeover” of Take-Two Interactive They
are currently offering stakeholders in Take-Two Interactive $26

So for all of you who love
Golden Eye the UK magazine Xbox World 360 has info in its next issue all about
it, including what appears to be the world’s first hands on impression of it.
Now its time to sit back and wait for the information to
come rolling in and wonder if there is going to be a Perfect Dark remake.

Gary Gygax passed away at his home in Wisconsin tuesday. Gary
spawned one of the most arguably influential hobbies of the past 35
years when he co-created the roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons in
1974 and is considered to be one of the grandfathers of role playing.
In an interview with gamespy he told them that "I would like the world to remember me as the guy who really enjoyed
playing games and sharing his knowledge and his fun pastimes with
everybody else. " and I think it would be hard to remember him any other way.
Both Penny Arcade and Order of the Stick
have posted some fitting tribute comics. If it's been a while I
recommend grabbing some friends and start by rolling 4d6 starting at
the top.

Having found Osama bin Laden (see image), making Iraq a safe place to live, and winning the war on conventional terrorism, the Department of Homeland Security is going after terrorists in the last place they can hide: World of Warcraft.
Dubbed the Reynard project is where US intelligence agents are scouting out Azeroth for "suspicious behavior", most likely Orks in turbans.
However, what is the real game here?
The notion that wandering around such an imaginary world with a computerized body is dangerous to anyone seems itself cartoonish and calls into question the public hand-wringing by security experts.
