I just killed a few hours playing Audio Surf this morning on Steam for the price of a nice lunch ($9.95). Its like a trippy Guitar Hero / Tetris mix where you use your own music and knock out colored blocks to the beat. PCGames.de did an interview with the developer Dylan Fitterer that gives some cool insight to the game and its origins.
The well-reviewed sci-fi MMO EVE Online, which claims 220,000 users, will be the first MMO to come to Steam.
Steam currently boasts 13 million accounts worldwide.
In order to jumpstart EVE Online interest on Steam, the service is offering a 21-day free trial of the MMO to Steam users, as well as $5 off the first full month. Steam has also guaranteed to never charge for any future expansions , "as the Eve universe grows, so do the benefits of your subscription."
At the Digital, Life, Design
Conference, EA has unveiled an all new free to play game from the
Battlefield series called “Battlefield Heroes”. The game will be
free to play, generating revenue off of in game advertising and
micro-transactions (I am assuming the micro-transactions will be
purchasable character customizations). The game play will be like
previous battlefield games and have a match making system that will
“ensure that players of equal skills are paired together” (like
that will work). The game will feature cartoon-like graphics (This
would be great, but judging from the one available screenshot, the
graphics seem to be a crappy offshoot of TF2’s) and game play that
will allow gamers of all skill to pick up the game and enjoy it.
Perhaps the most intriguing part of the announcement is that they
claim that they will continually add new content and integrate player
feedback into the game. If they are able to do this, they will be
doing a lot more than games you actually have to pay for. Here’s
hoping that EA actually does something right. The game should be
available in summer 2008. Source
After returning home from his last adventure, Dinky discovers that his family have (once again) been kidnapped by the forces of evil. A mysterious trail of toys, tinsel, and wrapping paper leads into the night...
Enraged and with nothing to lose, Dinky heads out to save his family from a grizzly (yet seasonal) demise.
Coming this Christmas, Polar Paradise gives you epic snowball fights, exploding turkeys, killer penguins, and a Robotic Santa. This tongue-firmly-in-cheek Christmas mod heralds the return of Dinky, a polar bear with nothing to lose, and also the world's leading Arctic Avenger, and star of the classic 2003 Max Payne mod, Polar Payne.
This project was originally made for university, as part of our game
production management degree. The main part of the project (besides
development) was to produce extensive documentation, including GDD,
APP, and TDD; recruit and manage a small team; and present (pitch) the
initial concept and final game.
