DivX has announced a partnership with Sony to bring the video codec to the PlayStation 3. But what does this mean to you you ask? Well, first it means developers can add DivX video to their games, secondly, it lets you play all of those DivX movie files that you've aquired via shady internet sites. Oh and by play I also mean stream to your TV via the PS3 with ease. No more of this burn to DvD to pop into that DivX dvd player.
When is this slated to come? "at some point in the future" via a firmware update. The PS3 just got more appealing to me, too bad their pulling that backwards compatability.

A Dutch teenager has been arrested for allegedly stealing virtual furniture from rooms in Habbo Hotel and five Dutch 15-year-olds have also been questioned by police. The six teenagers are suspected of moving the stolen furniture into their own Habbo rooms. The company that operates the social networking site, Sulake, said that the shake down happened when “the accused lured victims into handing over their Habbo passwords by creating fake Habbo websites.” The teen then supposedly pilfered over $5,800 USD worth of virtual furniture. Lets hope that somewhere along the line tiny virtual handcuffs and a virtual jail cell will be involved. BBC News Source

Thanks for ruining the Atari name Infogrames! Last month Infogrames (which owns Atari) decided to Axe 5 Atari directors and threw in their own "chief restructuring officer." Their CEO Patrick Leleu says "the new board is expected to improve
finances, revive publishing initiatives, improve distribution and
leverage the Atari name." Sure Atari was loosing millions but it was a name to look up to and actually had a few games that were looking decent like Alone in the Dark and The Witcher.
Now were seeing another Atari CEO David
Pierce step down from his position. Atari officials announced today that the publisher will "re-focus its
operations on publishing and distribution in North America, completing
its withdrawal from the production business." According to the release, Atari's operations going forward "will involve title acquisition, sales and marketing, and physical distribution of products from [Infogrames] IESA, its 51% shareholder, and other selected partners." I cant imagine what they are up against, at times it seems they look to IESA to bail them out, but it seems like another corporate takeover to me. RIP

Who would have thought politics could
be funny? Sam and Max go to Washington D.C to take on the president
and his off the wall antics, ranging from mandatory group huts to an
embargo on pudding. Much like Half-Life 2, Sam & Max is an
episodic game. Unlike Half-Life 2, Sam & Max has released 7
different episodes. Filled with satire, witty humor, and a whole lot
of sarcasm, “Sam & Max: Abe Lincoln Must Die!” looks to be a
great gaming experience. Best of all it is now free? Head over to
fileplanet and pick it up.

What do you get when you combine
Oblivion with Half-Life? I'll tell you what, a damn good game. At
least it appears that way. This past Friday saw the release of the
much awaited “Crysis” single player demo. While it was not a
game I was looking forward to, it has now been added to my growing
list of games to buy on release. With impressive graphics and game
play to match, it doesn't skimp on the system requirements. You will
need a fairly new computer to fully enjoy the game. You can head on
over here
to nab the demo.
