On a heads up note to everyone who uses the XBox Live Service. On Monday, Septeber 10th, XBL will be down for about 4 hours starting at 2am Pacific, or 5am Eastern. The reason behind it isn't completely known yet though there should be the usual house keeping.

Oh, and I suppose to Dr. Phil as well.
The final
report of the Virginia Tech Review Panel does NOT identify
video games as a factor. In fact the only video game mentioned is Sonic the
Hedgehog and um.. damn... that game is so violent, I can see why we thought
there was a link there to begin with.
Chapter IV of the report, entitled Mental
Health History of Seung Hui Cho, stated that "None of the video
games were war games or had violent themes"
I managed to find out about this via Game Politics in
this article
and I think its worth a quick glance over for the quotes from the report. In
the end it's a battle won for the gaming community, but at the heart of the
matter it's still a tragedy and a senseless loss of life. I hope one day
certain people (mentioned above) and other like then can realize that people
like me, and you, who play video games, are not a boogie man waiting to happen
and in a time where there are much larger issues at stake, maybe we can use
those millions of dollars of peoples time and money that are being wasted on something
worthwhile at home instead.

Boomerangs, bombs, dungeons, magic swords and green tunics. Not
a fan of word association? We’ll the Legend of Zelda is one of the common ties
to all of these words and Game Trailers
has wants to show you how. They’ve released a 6 part Retrospective on the
series and if you’re a fan of it I recommend checking it out as it’s a game
that helped change the face of gaming. I’ve got your part one below, check out YouTube
for the rest of them if you don’t want to be looking at 100megs a part.

So which are the currently
top-selling games in the US? Let's start with the all-formats list: * indicates pre-order
1. BioShock—2K Games (Xbox 360)
2. Halo 3*—Microsoft (Xbox 360)
3. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption—Nintendo (Wii)
4. Brain Age 2: More Training in Minutes a Day—Nintendo (DS)
5. Nintendo DS Lite w/ Brain Age 2—Nintendo (DS)
6. Wii Play w/ Remote—Nintendo (Wii)
7. Halo 3 Ltd. Edition*—Microsoft (Xbox 360)
8. BioShock—2K Games (PC)
9. Madden NFL 08—EA (Xbox 360)
10. Brain Age—Nintendo (DS)
Yes, that's Halo 3 you're seeing on there. The star indicates pre-orders if
you can believe that. So the amount of pre-orders for Halo 3 makes it close
to being the top-selling game for all formats something like a month before
it's even released.
