The moment everyone's been waiting for draws closer. The first major update to Team Fortress 2 since is first launched. We are finally given an in depth look at what the Valve team has in store for our beloved Medic and the madness that'll come from the new Payload game mode.
Let's go over what we already know. We've got 36 new achievements coming our way that focus on the roots of being a Medic. We've got 3 new weapons that can be unlocked as we progress through that list of achievements . And we've got the new map Goldrush coming our way that'll usher in the new game made, Payload.
Many are left wondering whether one of the most popular first person shooter games will ever have its sequel. Valve has been very quiet about any developments in the project allowing their time to be spent on their current project Team Fortress 2. With the release of TF2 many believe that the new counter strike could resemble TF2 in artwork and design.
"... do we go start over from scratch and build this whole new game, do we do something that looks more like Team Fortress 2" was the question posed by Doug Lombardi. Valve really hasn't decided whether the look or feel would resemble TF2 but they seem to be leaning towards something different. They also hint that the new game would lean more to a radical departure from the original game. They don't plan on revamping a couple details and reskinning and calling it a day.
With the hinting that Counterstrike 2 may be a radical departure from its original part, the very core that makes Counter-Strike one of the major reasons college gpa's are dropping due to low study time, shouldn't change so much that the game isn't recognized as a Counter Strike game. Even if the game is very different, the community is filled with ingenious players to mod the game as they see fit. Until then we must enjoy our time with TF2 until that fateful day arrives.
Its been just over a year now that Dystopia released their total
conversion mod for HL2. It had almost slipped my mind when I ran
across an old clan-mate Urinal-Cake who informs me that the game is not
dead yet. They are working hard on releasing a new version 1.2 in the
near future and I wanted to share some of the news and bring back some good memories .
In the high tech cyberpunk world of Dystopia,
Punk Mercenaries (Punks) or Corporate Security Forces (Corps) fight
through the physical world to gain access, via jack-in terminals, to
cyberspace. In cyberspace, its your job as a hacker to move between
nodes on the network and launch a variety of programs to enemy hackers
and terminals which control realworld objects such as doors, security
systems, cameras, phone systems, lifts and PA systems. This was one of
my favorite things in the game even though I sucked at hacking or
staying alive in cyberspace for very long, it was fun as hell to fly
around.
Reading through their news section, its obvious they
are releasing new maps and polishing up existing maps. Behind the
scenes, their new team members are churning out content faster than
the lead playtester can keep up with. Read more news about Dystopia

Kick arse!
The Dystopia team must be on their second wind with the new release of art updates for they are including for 1.2 version of their mod. This month, the team decided to show off the new art assets that have been completed in the last months. They promise to keep this up until 1.2 comes out.
First we have a new Core-Cooling Modules, introduced for the map Vaccine (right). Silo has received some portable lights that are apparently needed for the Corps to launch missiles (bottom left). New DESTRUCTIBLE server racks modeled for their map Fortress (bottom right). For more info, check out their moddb news updates every month.
