With the cost of technology dropping every hour and laptops and desktops becoming more available its no wonder that Microsoft is enjoying the increased sales of Vista. However a recent study by Devil Mountain found that up to 35% of people who participated had a computer that had a Vista license that was downgraded to XP.
Either the vendor (HP, Toshiba, Dell, etc) downgraded the unit or the customer bought XP and downgraded themselves. The results may be a bit skewed as the survey only got 3000 volunteers, hardly a respectable sample size but it does point a trend out. XP is still very alive even though Microsoft stopped support for it.
It's much easier for on line orders to have the unit downgraded. Units that are bought in store come preinstalled with Vista, and the customer has to buy a copy of XP to install it or they have to refuse the EULA and contact the manufacturer to get XP on the system. However, there is rumor that many of the newer units that came out after Microsoft stopped support for XP won't be able to install it due to motherboard restrictions. So it appears that the only choice to get XP is the waning market of older computers with XP. Nothing like a 512mb Celeron Lenovo with XP to make you enjoy your friends Vista computer.

I f you have been living in a cave you may have missed that Diablo 3 has been announced and blizzard has a small teaser website with 5 minutes of footage and artwork and hours worth of speculation all across the forums. There really haven't been any major updates since the website went public.
Execs at blizzard are saying the reason they are bringing back the barbarian is because they felt he could be done better. They felt he wasn't done well enough in the previous games to take him out. Blizzard has no plans however to bring back anymore of the previous cast members.
One such member that will not be making a comeback is the necromancer. Blizzard felt that they had done him correctly and he was near flawless in his design. The witch doctor bears some of the similarities of the necromancer but many people argue that they feel it would be too watered down from the original necromancer to be of any use. Only time will tell.

Do you have an Nvidia card in your system. Well chances are you have a defective card. What kinds of odds. Do you have an Nvidia 8400, or 8600 series card? Sources have leaked information that all, yes every single Nvidia 84 or 86 series card may be defective. That is a huge model lineup of possibly bad cards. So all of you 8800, 9 series and mobile cards are lucky. Well you guessed wrong too. More research is citing that the faulty parts that were in the 8x series are also in pretty much every other Nvidia card up to the 9800.
The faulty part basically deals with how the card cools down the card. So the cards are actually melting due to faulty temperature management. Repair companies are seeing a huge influx of display problems with computers with any of the Nvidia cards. The parts are based of the G84, G86, G92, G94 series type cards. Nvidia has denied absolutely all wrongdoing. They have only admitted to the bad mobile chip sets that were supposedly only given to HP as OEM parts. This has also proven to be false as many other manufacturers are seeing more and more problems and in some cases have to exchange laptops at their own expense because Nvidia will no provide enough support.

Rumors have been surfacing that more and more developer are slowing down their development of pc based games. Sources have been citing recent trends in console games vs PC games. The recent popularity of many consoles including Nintendo Wii, and Microsoft's Xbox 360 has led many to believe that gaming will shift back to be a primarily console based market especially now that all of the consoles have wireless access now.
A recent study however aims to prove otherwise. "Despite rumors of impending doom, PC and MAC games were being worked on by a whopping 70 percent of developers polled, with console games at 43%, 28% working on web-based games, and only 16% taking on handheld projects."
If you would like to dive into the market further you can always go to Game Dev Research's Website You do have to pay a small fee to access the full report.
This is definitely good news for PC gamers who can expect many more Call of Duty games (most likely Call of Duty 13, hunt for new content)

Introduction:
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriot, the forth and possibly
the last installment in the series. A PlayStation 3 exclusive game,
released June 12, 2008. But before the actual game release, a Beta test
was given to those who reserved it to the new online game play, Metal
Gear Online. As for the story it takes place after the previous Metal
gear solids, hence Snake looking so old. The story goes as a new war
being caused from his brother slash clone, Liquid. Using a new program
called “Guns of the Patriot” which uses a next generation
nanotechnology injected into many soldiers. With the nanotechnology, it improvised the modern soldier to be some what like a “Super soldier”
allowing information to be send to and from one another and to high up
officials. Which Liquid has taken advantage of, and plans on using to
make a “New world”. That is were Snake comes in, he is called forth
once again to help man kind.
Game play:
Game play for MGS4, is very solid, controls are easy to learn quick for
new comers to the series. As for the style, it’s a change from the
traditional fixed camera, and goes to a third person shooter style.
Much like how Resident Evil went with RE4. But game play stays true;
it’s a stealth action game. In which snake gets his Octocamo.

Update time is rolling around again, and on the podium is the Heavy!
It's all unveiled on Tuesday, August the 19th with a huge box of stuff
to mess around with. We all expected the weapons, but for a new game
mode to be released with this update and five maps from that new game
mode (count 'em, FIVE!) it might just become a new trend for new game
modes with the rest of the classes that come out. Another addition to
the barrel of fun: a 'special' edition 'Meet the -' series with a
supposed 'Meet the Team' video for our (overflowing) enjoyment. The
entire update will be released piece by piece every day until Tuesday
(today's update was the unique CP map cp_steel, where capturing a control point modifies the layout of the map, opening and closing routes for each team.
Keep an eye out on the Heavy Update Official Page each day for more info.
