ATI: The Big Bang for your bucks theory
Hardware

nvidia-vs-atiNvidia and ATI have been at war for a long time to be the one that gets the performance crown and your hard earned money. Nvidia might still have the performance crown for now but ATI is not done and just came back with 2 new cards, the Radeon 4850 and the 4870.

These new cards from ATI are aimed for the gamers who wants high end performance without having to shell out insane amount of money for it. At a MSRP of 200$ for the 4850 and 300$ for the 4870, these cards are dealing a heavy blow to the green giant who has been for a long time using his performance crown to charge a hefty premium for gamers who wants high end FPS.
The 4850 and the 4870 are much alike in terms of features, they have a single GPU based on the 55nm RV770 chipset and both cards have 965 millions transistors, 800 stream processing units and 40 texture units all on a 256-bit bus. The differences between the 2 cards are on clock speeds and memory, the 4850 is a single slot card with GDDR3 memory clocked at 625/1000Mhz (1986Mbps) and the 4870 got a dual slot cooler on it with GDDR5 memory clocked at 750/1800Mhz (3.6Gbps).
The 4850 performs pretty much the same as the 9800 GTX from Nvidia while the 4870 brings the war to the GTX 260 and sometimes outperforms it. Now its up to you to chose which brand you will get for your next video card, but thanks to ATI, gamers on a budget are now getting more for their money.

cave_johnson_redidFor all of you that can't wait for the sequel (or prequel) to the surprised smash hit Portals, you can now at least get a sneak peak into one of the new characters in development.  Meet Cave Johnson.

He is age 60.  He is the successful owner of applied science companies and a self made billionaire.  He's a born leader and salesman and people trust him even when his plans are dangerous.  He might not know how science works but he knows how people work.

You can definitely head on over to the link at the bottom to read more about this interesting little character bio.  It does appear that they are looking for some voice actors for the part.  So all of you voice actors that helped with our video here is your chance.

Blizzard Officially announced Diablo 3 at the Paris World Wide Invitational though there isn't much information to be had at this point other than there will be 5 classes. The barbarian will be returning and the new class the witch doctor, which sounds like it might be replacing the necromancer as it can summon undead minions as well.

The Diablo 3 website is up and running  with limited information but its worth a browse and below  I attach the trailer for all of your jumping up and down goodness.
