Dell continues to have problems, this time however its judicial woes that plague the company with a rather large headache. Dell and its affiliate Dell Financial Services were found guilty in fraud, false advertising, deceptive business practices and abusive debt collection practices.
Dell failed to provide the type of technical support their warranty stated, which mainly focused on their next business day services. They also were found to have been pressuring customers into doing their own warranty repairs, which can void your warranty.
DFS also got in trouble by advertising special no interest or no payment options, but instead denied several of their customers even those with adequate credit scores. Some customers were also not informed that they didn't' qualify for the special offers and set them up for the much higher interest offers.
Personally I have been screwed by Dell's warranty service and DFS. My first computer was a dell, and I bought an expensive ATI graphics card at the time and it couldn't play anything well. They gave me another card then told me that my warranty expired and wouldn't fix it, b/c I voided my warranty getting a different card. This lawsuit comes at no surprise to most of us, reminding us why we the company has so many issues and why many refuse to do any business with them.
