![]() The Ice Cream Koan: A cocky novice once said to Richard Stallman: “I can guess why the editor is called Emacs, but why is the justifier called Bolio?”. Stallman replied forcefully, “Names are but names, ‘Emack & Bolio's’ is the name of a popular ice cream shop in Boston-town. Neither of these men had anything to do with the software.” His question answered, yet unanswered, the novice turned to go, but Stallman called to him, “Neither Emack nor Bolio had anything to do with the ice cream shop, either.” |

haha funny picture, it rings true. The main reason I am a PC gamer is the multiplayer experience is far better than any console. Hell, we were playing team fortress classic, duke nukem and quake before consoles even had split screens. If I want to sit around with my friends and play video games, I'll fire up the Wii (which isn't even comparable to PC in my opinion, because the games are completely different). Yay for PCs!

I love the Internet and all, but it makes me sad that broadband killed the lan party.

I have a couple of friends that have the Wii, along with an Xbox and PS3. When asked about what they use the Wii for, mostly when people come over to their houses. Back when I was playing Quake, TFC, and Duke Nukem I attended my fair share of Lan parties, they were fun. The only problem was lugging my rig around with a 19 inch CRT monitor. That made it totally not worth hauling my computer out of the dorm to my car to drive 45 minutes to a Lan party. -------------------- "Dumb people are always blissfully unaware of how dumb they really are." -- Patrick Star

Yes and no, i met alot of people from online, some of which i then met in person, i think for some it can be, but it can also help you make more friends. i think each has it's market. |

It's a double edged sword. On the one hand I'm not playing with my friends that I hang out with, on the other I get to "meet" interesting people over the internet that I wouldn't have otherwise on a console. Just look at this place... people of different ages, backgrounds, beliefs and ideas all playing the same game. Makes for interesting conversations you might not get with the friends you hang out with.
