[Cannonarm]

It is a very simple challenge.

I post five to eight 20-30 second clips from widely known games and you have to guess all five of them. The first one will win a prize determined by me based on difficulty and participation. The songs will have all identifiable content (author, title, etc.) stripped from the original OCRemix MP3 so you will have to guess based on the music.

The songs will always contain the most identifiable parts that will make it easier. The styles will be as varied as choices allow.

The contest will run for two weeks. As the contest gets closer to the end without a winner I will start providing clues to some or all of the choices to make sure their is a winner. As the contest goes on I will upload up to 3 extra songs of easier difficulty. This will allow for more people to participate. The extra songs will be added at random. You still only have to guess 5 correct.

The object of the contest is to try and drive participation in the website and forums. If it goes well this will be an ongoing event, so lets have a good time and get to rockin' 3-PG style.

Rules

1. You may only post your guesses 5 times per contest. This way you can post multiple times incase you didnt' get it right but doesn't allow someone to spam answers.
2. Do not edit posts.
3. You are allowed to talk about songs in the forums but be aware that anyone can see it if it helps them.
4. I will only declare a winner until 5 songs are guess correctly. I will not post if someone's guesses are partially correct or which songs were right.

man, a few of them sound vaguely familiar but I cant put my finger on it yet. I'm hearing silent hill in song 5 but I'm not hearing all the notes. Song 2 sounds rather dungeony and questy, idk if its zelda or another one I killed braincells on.

It is always important to listen to the melody, the melody is always the Star. Song 5 is very subtle but you are on the right track as that was a very Dark part of the certain game in question.

I hope this one takes longer than the last - I couldn't figure out any of them. I must convince the Queen to allow me more game time so I can get a few on the next one.

I just made the announcement through our steam group and bumped the prize up one last bit. The dueling minigame prize was kinda small so I upgraded it to one of the hats Stig gave me last night to give away as prizes.

Song 2 makes me think of Secret of Mana or something dungeony like Kev said.
Song 3 sounds like a Mega Man game, but WHICH ONE?

song 2 and 3 are definately going to be harder ones.

Secret of mana is such a good guess though and i'm feeling charitable so I will let you know that isn't correct.

But secret of mana does have some really good sound tracks. Definately a game to keep your eye on.

BTW... the more posts means me and Otaku can provide more chatter that might have clues. Who knows.. maybe later on we might change our posts to include answers to make sure we have a winner... BUT i'm gonna wanna see more posts.

And just to clarify it song 4 and song 5 you need to focus on the melody.

The chimes are the most important part to listen to in song 5.

Same with the melody for song 4. The hardest part about these are you only get a shadow of the whole song which makes things more difficult.

I got 1 and 4 immediately, but only because they are both originally by the same composer and from two of the best and most popular RPGs ever made.

Song 7 is available. Lets see if anyone can guess 5 of them before i post the last song.

Track 2 reminds me of Secret of Mana and track 3 reminds me of Double Dragon. Track 5 make me think of Okamiden. The other tracks sound awesome but they're not reminding me of anything.

I have never even heard of okamiden... so you could probably rule that out.

Double dragon has some good music but most of it repeats through the series so its hard to pick one to represent the game. Good for a series style contest though.

Again with the secret of mana. I've heard like five guesses for song 2 as secret of mana but unfortantely that isn't right.

Song 8 was added. Maybe if we get to two pages I'd feel more inclined to give out hints... Spread the word peoples.

I keep spreading the word but people seem like they don't wanna just guess at it. What they don't understand is that guesses will be responded to with HINTS so you can refine your guess.

I haven't responded to this post not because I'm not participating, but because I can't guess any of the songs D:
None of them sound familiar to me.
