thumb_ultsm096_400_colAccording to an article at MTV's Splash Page, Morbius may just be the next Spiderman villain!  At least, that is the rumor flying about after Sam Raimi's comment made in the latest issue of Empire Magazine. As we all know, Dr. Curt Conners (the one armed doctor and Tobey Maguire's professor in the last couple Spidey movies) was rumored to be the next or "eventual" villain as the one and only Lizard.  The Lizard has long been a favorite of Sam Raimi's, and you may be wondering where Morbius comes into the picture.

Morbius becomes a vampire much like Dr. Conners becomes the Lizard.  They are both scientists trying to leverage other species abilities to better themselves.  In the case of Morbius, it turns him into a pseudo-vampire.  Not any old gothic-style vampire either... none of those silly weaknesses to silver or garlic.

After the pain of watching the last effort of emo-spidey boo hoo all over himself, and a bad Sandman/Venom matchup, a little Lizard-Morbius double teaming with the wallcrawler running for his life would be a welcome change.

Spidey's powers start to run rampant after his run-in with the symbiote Venom.  He grows extra limbs and continues to mutate while a new supernatural threat seems to be hunting innocents in the city ("vampires are real?" spidey wonders).  He is having a hard time tracking the new enemy,  even more trouble just living with his new changes.  In desperation, he turns to Dr. Conners (who helped him with Venom).  Dr. Conners is able to help, but better yet, sees an opportunity to grow his own arm back. Days later, Peter comes back to thank his professor, and instead finds the Vampire searching the ruins of Dr. Conners' lab.  Dr. Conners appears to be the latest victim of the Vampire.
